Newcastle Bridges School is seeking to appoint an outstanding Pastoral Lead to join our successful team. We are looking to appoint a support lead who has the understanding and empathy to help our young people achieve their full potential as part of our pastoral team. Flexibility and an understanding of the specific needs of our students are essential requirements of the post which may suit an existing pastoral support lead or an experienced practitioner looking for a new challenge or experience.
The post is based in our Kenton site which is a small nurturing environment for secondary aged young people who have had difficulties in a mainstream school. Most young people have an EHCP, and/or difficulties with their social, emotional and mental health. Our class sizes are smaller than in mainstream schools, and we have a higher staff to young person ratio.
This is an exciting opportunity for an excellent practitioner to join our outstanding school and work in a challenging yet rewarding environment. We would like to hear from candidates who feel that they can demonstrate the characteristics and skills we are looking for and hold the relevant qualifications to meet the demands of this post.
Newcastle Bridges School provides excellent educational opportunities to pupils whose education has been interrupted by mental or physical ill-health or school phobia. We seek to support each pupil’s access to a full-time, broad and balanced education appropriate to their potential and their educational needs and encourage reintegration into mainstream whenever relevant. Newcastle Bridges School was judged by Ofsted to be ‘outstanding’ (May 2022).

Prosper Learning Trust was established in January 2018 with Newcastle Bridges School and Mary Astell Academy. Thomas Bewick School joined in 2019, Harry Watts opened in September 2020 and Gilbert Ward Academy opened in September 2023. We are striving to further build collaboration across the schools and grow as a Multi Academy Trust, whilst continuing to strengthen our relationships with schools outside the MAT for the benefit of our pupils.
Whilst this post is predominantly based at our Kenton site, there could be a requirement to work at another of our school provisions. Similarly, as the successful candidates will be employed by Prosper Learning Trust, they will be expected to work at any Prosper Learning Trust site should the need arise.
The Trust is proud to say that we match the Real Living Wage and we also offer successful candidates:
Full details can be found on our website.
Please note that all successful candidates will be required to complete an online pre-employment medical questionnaire.
